A 400m2 2 storey villa set on a 1000m2 front line plot, facing the Costa Vicentina The main challenge of this 25years old construction inspired by a lighthouse architectural design, was the many small rooms with difficult access through cramped corridors, the curved walls and the position of the property on the « Trail of Headlands » in full view of the hikers passing by Beside breaking walls down to enlarge the spaces and thus allowing a better circulation of light, energy and people, the difficult task was to create privacy without obstructing the panoramic views, while protecting its people from prying eyes. By raising the floor of the ground level and creating a large deck area as an extension all along the side of the house facing the sea, we allowed the inhabitants to overlook the path by bringing them to a height well beyond the eye level of passers by. A meticulous landscaping took into consideration all the possibilities to reinforce the privacy of the property including the creation of a wide entrance wall with rounded shapes, thus hiding the garden from the outside but leaving the sea view from the inside. Likewise the terrace of the upper floor has been prevented from outside looking through the installation of light composite panels, turning this space into an absolute private outdoor kitchen- seating area where the owners and guests can enjoy sundowner entertainments. Further improvements on that 1st floor included the breaking down of most of the walls, enabling the creation of 2 beautiful bedrooms en suite with stunning views, one particularly impressive with a luxurious customised bathroom The full renovation work lasted 9 months. The property is now fully functional and updated to the modern requirements and standards such as underfloor heating and cooling system, solar energy, double glazed windows, high end bathroom appliances, all bedroomsen suite open space kitchen, Mediterranean dry garden and magnificent views.
